I’d like to introduce the readers to my sister, Jourdan (the sister referred to in yesterday’s post). I invited her to share a Thought of the Day expecting greatness, as I do of all my family members at all times. Let us see, then, what she contributed to the annals.
Today’s Thought of the Day comes from my experience at approximately 8:30 this morning. I was rear-ended on a busy highway in the middle of some stop and go traffic. Naturally, I try to get out of the way and see what’s wrong with my car (personally, I’m shaken and worried, but physically fine). The small, dark green car full of guys behind me doesn’t bother to stop, of course. Turns out my car is fine and everything, so it was as lightly traumatic as a car accident can be. But I have now been in three car accidents in the four years I’ve been on the road, none of which have been through any fault of my own.
Anyway. Thought of the Day: It is not (I repeat NOT) a good idea to hit the gas when there is a line of cars ahead of you barely going five miles an hour. Just so you know, in case you were so inclined.
I feel obliged to contribute that I have been a passenger in my sister’s pile of junk Alero, and felt my life was only moderately threatened, which makes her a better driver than 90% of all women, all foreign nationals, and all inhabitants of the state of Illinois. And infinitely better than my friend Peter, who I’m not certain actually took a driver’s test at any point in his life. Maybe in Minnesota they just give you a driver’s license to make up for not selling beer on Sundays?
Having said that, it makes me giggle that she adds to the “Women can’t drive” statistic by being in 3x as many accidents as I have through no fault of her own.
